All businesses depend upon making a good impression on their customers, establishing a strong and loyal customer base and achieving a high level of customer satisfaction. Any direct or indirect contact with the customer exposes a part of the organization's inner effectiveness.

Most leaders share the insight that that a strong external effectiveness – that which occurs in the contact with customers – relies upon strong internal performance.  But despite that insight, many decisions about improvement measures are made prematurely and are based on a weak analysis. The right decision depends upon a good analysis based on relevant information. Organizational development begins with a well-conducted analysis, but also requires solid processes and methods for transition management. Efficient transition management comes down to enabling a business to act and behave in a partly new way, so as to meet new demands. It requires a deep understanding of behavioral change on an individual and structural level, and an understanding of the different phases and types of resistance, that arise in conjunction with transition management.
